Hottest October since 1941
Sarah • Nashville,TN
Having lived and Farmed in Tennessee for over 35 years (not many in "earth time"); I have now experienced the Hottest Summer with the worst Drought in over 75 years..Now it's the driest & Hottest October too..Oct.8,2007 and it has been over 90 degrees (Fahrenheit) 3 days or more in a row; here in Tennessee ( all over it) trees are dying or dead, even the iron Tough "weeds" are dying or dead. No Leaves left on trees, no pasturage left, the pond is at it's lowest level since it was put in over 50 years ago (according to older neighbor who has lived here for all of his 89 years) Note: it has been the worst since dust bowl days according to him also.
Even the Insects are dying & MIA ; therefore birds are going hungry too. No Browse for the Deer, nothing for them to eat this winter either.. thanks to a Very Late Hard Freeze in April; in March is when we have our last freeze here..it killed all the tree leaves & Blooms; no acorns, no Hickory nuts.. zip.. so the Wild Turkeys have meager Pickings also.
When I had a Lilac that bloomed in Dec 6 years ago; I KNEW we were in for some really strange weather in the coming years; this "fall".. which so far there isn't much of; the wild plants are struggling to survive by blooming out of season.. it's all screwed up..
I have never seen such weather as what we have had these past 10 years & it's getting worse.
I drive & use petroleum derived energy as little as possible; I farm organically & don't use any kind of chemicals on the farm or with my business at all..and you know what?? Pres. Bush and his administration proclaiming a while back that Global Warming wasn't a hard fact was just more methane & as far as I can see just added to Greenhouse gasses. He should get a real job & have to WORK outside for a living!! along with all of his Cronies & tag a longs..maybe THEN someone MIGHT get the message.. You Think??
