Azaleas are Wilmington, North Carolina’s signature flower. We have an annual Azalea Festival each mid-April when the flowers are typically at their peak. But this year some bushes began to bloom in early February.

Our news weekly is asking “Will the azaleas will still be around for the Festival”, and people on our local talk radio shows are answering with, “We’ll just have to pray the azaleas stick around.”
